yeah...in my art class the teacher and the students would touch sensitive topics about religion and homosexuality, even race. that was because the art we were studying was very relevant to those topics. funny thou how the discussion of christianity was more dingy and shameful to more of the people then prositution...they would say, well its your body so its ok to do what you want with it and only three people disagree, and when the discussion of Christ and the bible came up people had so much to say about it of course. Alot of the people were ashamed to be born into the religion and of course like you said, the image problem came up...we were looked at as anti-homosexual, judgmental, hypocritical, too political, sheltered, and proselytizing. It Sucks.
Something really nice happened one day. We had to do projects and make different versions of the artwork we were assigned to. One lady in her 40's enlightened the whole class and made it about purity and Christ and she did it in such a way were she showed real passion and love for God, so much that everyone thought it was beautiful, they then had real nice things to say and asked alot of interesting questions, they respected and liked her presentation even thou alot of them who asked questions thought of Christ as a fairy tale character. Kinda reminded me of blue like jazz, when the man suddenly fell in love with the jazz music cause he saw how much passion and love somebody else had for it, it inspired.
